Liz Barrett-Browning was the receptionist at the Finis Hotel, Thursday Next stayed during The Eyre Affair. She encouraged Thursday to go out with Landen Parke-Laine again, saying that her boyfriends wouldn't even remember her ten years later. At first she was quite stiff and wooden, but later she was friendly to Thursday.
She had a cousin named Arnold, who owned a great auk named Beany.
